New Freestanding Desk Embodies Beauty and Attitude of xoForget for a moment the tech-integrated bells and whistles. Forget the affordable case-goods cost. First and foremost, the new xo freestanding desk by DatesWeiser is simply a gorgeous piece of office furniture. Its curved and luscious lines sets off klaxons in your brain that this striking desktop with its slip matched veneers is so beautiful, youd have to be crazy to clutter it up with work. As for the tech integration, well, thats pretty amazing, too. If last years xo introduction created a sensation for the simplicity of its planar form and its clean, Mondrian-inspired geometry, this years xo products will win kudos for their ingenious movement. Running the width of the desk, a rear panel slides smoothly back to reveal what lies beneath. Say goodbye to cords and cables collecting underfoot, the growth and tangle of neoprene connections. Like a tunnel for conduits hidden below a great city, an arroyo of leather cleverly concealed beneath the xo desktop keeps all power and phone connections out of the way, out of sight. Slide the panel back in place and presto, a seamless worksurface. Only the sleek brushed aluminum connection panel and portals provide a clue to the interior life of the xo freestanding desk. "The movement within the xo worksurface is very much within the language of the system we developed last year," says Allan Weiser, DatesWeiser president. "It all works very well with the geometry and form of a product line designed to bring a simple, elegant functionality to the office workplace. If anything, the new products offer an even more custom look, but still within the context of a kit of parts." Measuring six by three feet, the new xo desk is available in sycamore, anigre, and maple. The gentle sloping xo signature profile edge marks the front of the desk at the point of human contact while the remaining worksurface edges are tastefully accented with aluminum edge banding. In addition, new xo finishes include lush and vibrant colors that play off the rich wood surfaces.
